A Japanese traditionally styled sword stand or katanakake.
Sword stand with two shin-gunto
If you'd like a similar stand made to order, please get in touch.
Materials: recycled mahogany. Shellac finish
The swords displayed here are my two shin-gunto (army swords from 1936-1945). The upper one is from the early WW2 period. It's my iaido sword, as it's unusually long for a shin-gunto. The lower one is pre-war, and has unusually good fittings. Sadly it's also in need of repair to a worn hilt wrapping (which you can see), so I don't use it at present.
I'm also working on a re-mounting project , using this sword.
